Journal rebound

There’s something really cathartic about rebinding my journal. It’s a time to reflected ,celebrate and choose what is brought forward into new work. It’s been about 18 months since I last did this and it really feels like a fresh start.WP_003199

Swap Arrives

WP_003187One of the most interesting swaps that I particpiate in is the Destash swap. What one crafter no longer requires can be another’s treasure trove. It morning I received just such a box full of paper (rebound my journal),Buttons beads, washi tape, zippers, yarn and other crafty supplies to supplement my future creations

Monster Fun

I can finally share a couple of pieces from this week.

I belong to an online community called Cut,Out and Keep.Part of the group swap crafty items.I find it a great way to stretch myself and acquire pieces for collaborative  work. Then I pass it on.I have a collection of  fabric, wired and paper flowers and other objects which I will be continuing to include in projects for a long time.

Kiddo was one of my first swap partners this week our crafty paths crossed again and I made these two creatures as part of a Halloween swap.

The legs to Al have been in my stash for a while so -thanks to Hunting Wabbits they finally found their home.

Al oween is an off worlder who visits for the annual pumpkin thing on the blue planet and brought last years picture book from her visit.

Greenback is just a pure celebration of that fact that our green card paperwork has been signed and we are one step closer to become permanent residents in the US

Just so

Just like life these birds are full of small imperfections.I love playing with the surfaces, stitching and creating them. They are still based on Kerri Perkin’ s  Stitch Alchemy birds but are longer bound to being paper-cloth only.

Technical challenges

So I’ve joined an online group working though a book called Surface Treatment workshop by McElroy and Wilson.Going back to the basics of stamping and stenciling seemed to be very low key but I had the best fun yesterday exploring surfaces and creating ATC’s.I’ve never made single ATC’s before and it was great fun to create 18 unique but themed artist trading cards to go.

Flat packed girls

So I send a lot of crafty creations and my biggest challenge is writing customs form and not scaring the mail clerk too much.

There are rules around content and thickness of packages so I try to craft according.

My flat pack girl series is my response to this.It means no buttons (!),no beads(!!).

But what it does do is challenge me to use those hand sewing skills (see Sherbert) to add fine detail.

This is Fleur who lives in Norway. She is one of four. It’s been nearly 10 months since her creation and now I find myself wanting to go back and explore….

Altered Journal

Time to share.Lo’s brief was to create a journal where she  create and explore her own  poetry. This was a fun project and something that I had done previously.I’m glad to report that this swap has safely arrived in Canada into safe and welcoming hands.
