Owl watching

Today we headed out in warm weather to look for the owls at Nisqually. It was a beautiful spring day.I was glad of my Seahawks hat, gloves and down jacket. We had long looks a female owl tucked into the hollow of a snag. She rested ,wriggled and stretched until she finally settled down to rest. We’re unable to find the owlets on this visit but there is always next time.We heard the first rufus hummingbird of the season around the just flowering salmonberry. It felt like spring but the long term weather forecast is not to positive.

Winter

The weather in the Pacific North West has been mild and wet this winter. Our snow pack is very low but the up side is that our spring flowers are ahead a little. I’ve just found our first hellebore flowers and this small bowl of spring goodness sits on the table outside my studio reminding me that I will again be crafting in that very spot with the sun on my back.
